Explore the Best Florida Keys Dive Sites with Key Dives

Welcome to Key Dives, your gateway to the underwater wonders of the Florida Keys! With over 60 breathtaking dive sites to explore, we offer unparalleled access to the vibrant reefs and historic wrecks that make this region one of the world’s top diving destinations. Whether you’re a seasoned diver or just starting out, our curated selection of dive sites guarantees an unforgettable experience.

Reefs and Wrecks We Dive

Dive into the diversity of marine life and stunning underwater landscapes at some of the Florida Keys’ most iconic dive sites:

Alligator Reef: 25’ – A must-see on any dive trip, this reef is packed with more fish than any site in the Keys. More than 600 fish species have been positively identified at this site. A typical dive day at Alligator will include sightings of moray eels, spiny lobsters, an abundance of groupers, nurse sharks, and often even various turtle species. This site is also home to a coral outplanting and monitoring project by I.CARE, supported in part by Key Dives.

Capt. Arnos: 25-30’ – Now this is one fishy site, with huge schools of rainbow, midnight, and blue parrotfish seen off the west side, you will also typically find moray eels and nurse sharks resting under the ledges of this patch reef. This site is also home to a coral outplanting and monitoring project by I.CARE, supported in part by Key Dives.

Crocker Reef: 30-90’ – An expansive reef tract, Crocker Reef offers a wide variety of sites with stunning structures and diverse marine life. From shallow spur and grooves to dramatic valleys that drop off into deep sand, there is a site for every diver to enjoy. We see everything from sea turtles, nurse sharks, and stingrays to juvenile angelfish, colorful butterflyfish, and more on these reefs.

Davis Reef: 15-20’ – A beautiful shallow reef, Davis features a slight ledge covered in beautiful sea fans and plenty of overhangs for sleepy nurse sharks and turtles to tuck under. Don’t forget to rub Buddha’s belly as you swim by his shrine decorated with conch shells. This site is popular for night dives as well, due to the high turtle activity after dark. This site is also home to a coral outplanting and monitoring project by I.CARE, supported in part by Key Dives.

Eagle Wreck: 70-115’ – This 287’ ship was once a tire freighter and was purposefully sunk as a part of the Florida Keys Artificial Reef Association project. The Eagle now serves as an artificial reef where we see large schools of horse eye jacks, blue runners, rainbow runners, and Atlantic spadefish. We also frequently see huge goliath groupers and bull sharks cruising the bottom. If you’re extra lucky you might even find garden eels by the dozens poking out of the sand.

Islamorada Fingers: 40-70’ – Large sand channels, ideal for seeing spotted eagle rays, surround very tall spur and groove formations on this reef. Expect to see plenty of marine life swimming between the corals and keep an eye out for invasive lionfish.

Jumpin’ Mack: 30-60’ – One of our favorite deep reef sites, this area boasts an array of fish species including schools of juvenile French grunts, well disguised scorpion fish, soapfish, nurse sharks, hamlets, parrotfish, and much much more. It is also a great place to begin a drift dive.

Kylie’s Reef: 18-20′ – If coral is what you’re after, then this reef is for you. This shallow patch has absolutely incredible stands of stony corals; massive starlet coral, symmetrical brain coral, knobby brain coral, elliptical star coral, you name it, Kylie’s has it.

Maze: 30’ – This uniquely shaped patch reef is where the small sea creatures abound; look for sailfin blennies, pike blennies, and jawfish (you may even be lucky enough to see one carrying eggs in its mouth). This site has plenty of yellow and Southern stingrays hanging around the nearby coral nursery where I.CARE grows some of their sponge and coral outplants.

Morada: 20-25’ – This is one purple reef (“morada” means purple in Spanish), from the flowing purple sea plumes to the swaying purple sea fans, it’s a customer favorite if you like a lot of color. This site is also home to bonnethead sharks for the better part of the year.

Pervis: 35-45’ – A perfect site for drifting, seeing blue parrots, culling lionfish, and much more. You’ll see beautiful hard corals, including large star coral structures, and big barrel sponges are a prominent feature.

Rocky Top: 25’ – This site is particularly special to our crew because it is home to a green sea turtle named Rocky that the crew helped to rescue and then release after a quick rehab with the Marathon Turtle Hospital. This site also has some of the healthiest corals of any site we dive, accompanied by large schools of fish and even quite a few keystone sea urchins. This site is also home to a coral outplanting and monitoring project by I.CARE, supported in part by Key Dives.

Victory: 40-90’ – The reef forms a “v” shape where it meets the sand. It boasts very large coral structures in a loose spur and groove formation that flows down a sloping ledge. Victory is a spectacular reef where we regularly spot sharks, moray eels, and schools of jacks swimming by. This site is also home to a coral outplanting and monitoring project by I.CARE, supported in part by Key Dives.
