Dive one of the most famous wrecks in the Florida Keys — the Eagle, a 287-foot freighter resting upright in about 110 feet of water.


Located off Islamorada, the Eagle wreck has become an incredible artificial reef covered in coral growth, sponges, and marine life.

Divers often encounter large schools of fish, barracuda, grouper, jacks, and occasionally reef sharks cruising the wreck.

This dive is recommended for advanced divers comfortable with deeper profiles, offering one of the most exciting wreck diving experiences in the Florida Keys.

I.CARE Coral Planting Dive | Florida Keys

Help ICARE plant Coral on the reef!

Dive into a meaningful underwater experience with our I.CARE Coral Outplanting Dive in the Florida Keys. Departing from Key Dives in Islamorada, this specialized dive lets certified divers participate in hands-on coral planting and reef restoration. Work alongside the I.CARE team to transplant nursery corals onto Florida Keys reef sites — a rewarding way to combine Florida Keys scuba diving with conservation.


You’ll gain insight into reef ecology, help protect the ecosystem, and enjoy one of the most unique Key Largo scuba diving experiences available.



Coral Outplant Dive Schedule

  • 8:30 AM: Outplanting training at the I.CARE/Key Dives shop (85960 Overseas Hwy, Islamorada, FL 33036). Learn about the reefs being restored through a brief presentation and hands-on demonstration of safe outplanting techniques.
  • Lunch Break: 1–2 hour break between the training and dives. Bring your own lunch or explore nearby restaurants. Ask our staff for suggestions.
  • 12:15 PM: Check-in at the shop for the afternoon boat
  • 12:30 PM: Depart the dock for two dives at the outplanting site, supervised by an I.CARE Divemaster and Key Dives staff. All outplanting equipment provided.
  • 4:00–5:00 PM: Return to dock

Join Key Dives for the I.CARE Maintenance Dive in the Florida Keys, departing at 12:30 PM from Giant Stride [Key Dives] and returning around 4:30 PM.


This special dive experience gives certified scuba divers the chance to actively participate in reef care and conservation alongside the I.CARE program (Island Conservation and Restoration Education), assisting with underwater maintenance, sponge and coral monitoring, and helping protect the vibrant ecosystems that make Key Largo scuba diving world‐renowned. It’s a meaningful way to explore Florida Keys scuba diving adventures while giving back to the ocean and supporting long‐term reef health.

Whether you’re new to diving or an experienced diver, this exclusive Key Dives experience showcases the beauty of Florida Keys scuba diving, the diversity of Key Largo reef ecosystems, and the joy of responsible ocean adventure.


Sponge Outplant Dive Schedule

Open Water Referral – Finish Your Scuba Certification in the Florida Keys
2-Day Program


Already completed your classroom and pool training at home? The Open Water Referral program with Key Dives allows you to complete the final certification dives while exploring the beautiful reefs of the Florida Keys.

Before arriving, your referral paperwork must be completed by your instructor confirming that you have finished the academic and confined water training required for Open Water certification.


Your program begins with a short pool refresh session where you’ll review basic scuba skills and become familiar with the equipment before heading to the ocean.


Check in for the pool refresher at 8:30 a.m. After a short break for lunch around 10:30–11:15 a.m., check in for the afternoon dive boat at 12:30 p.m. for your first two certification dives. The boat returns to the dock around 4:30 p.m.

On the second day, you’ll complete your final two certification dives during the morning dive trip from 7:45 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.


Your final session will be adjusted after booking for the following morning.


Small class sizes ensure a relaxed learning environment with a maximum ratio of 1 instructor to 4 students.

Discover Scuba Diving – Try Scuba in the Florida Keys

Always wanted to try scuba diving? Discover Scuba Diving with Key Dives is the perfect way to experience breathing underwater for the first time while visiting the Florida Keys.

Your day begins at our Islamorada dive shop with check-in at 8:30 a.m., where your instructor will introduce you to the basics of scuba diving and the equipment you’ll be using. You’ll then practice a few simple skills in the pool to get comfortable breathing underwater in a relaxed and supportive environment.

After the morning training session, there is a break for lunch around 10:30–11:15 a.m. before returning to the shop for the afternoon boat trip.

Check-in for the dive boat is at 12:30 p.m., and we head out to the beautiful coral reefs of the Florida Keys for two guided ocean dives. With your instructor right beside you, you’ll explore shallow reefs filled with colorful tropical fish, coral formations, and vibrant marine life before returning to the dock around 4:30 p.m.

No certification or previous diving experience is required. Just bring your sense of adventure and get ready for an unforgettable underwater experience.

Minimum age: 10 years old

Open Water Scuba Certification – Learn to Dive in the Florida Keys
3-Day Course


Ready to become a certified scuba diver? The Open Water Scuba Certification course with Key Dives is your first step to exploring the underwater world and earning your internationally recognized scuba diving certification.

If you’re ready to take the plunge, the Open Water Certification with Key Dives is one of the best ways to learn to scuba dive in the Florida Keys. With small class sizes and experienced instructors, we focus on helping you become a confident and comfortable diver.


Please Note Key Dives will call to confirm scheduling after booking.


The course is completed in three phases.


Phase 1: Knowledge Development

Academic studies are completed online at your own pace before arriving. When you arrive at Key Dives, your instructor will review the material with you to ensure you’re ready for the next steps.

Phase 2: Pool Training (Day 1)

You will spend a full day in the pool learning scuba skills and becoming comfortable with your equipment. We take the time to train you properly so you feel confident before heading to the ocean.

Phase 3: Ocean Dives (Day 2&3)

You will complete four open water dives on the beautiful coral reefs of the Florida Keys where you will apply the skills learned in the pool while exploring vibrant reef habitats and marine life.

Training is conducted with a maximum ratio of 1 instructor to 4 students.

Haven’t been diving in a while? The Scuba Refresher with Key Dives is designed for certified divers who want to review their dive knowledge and practice basic scuba skills before returning to the ocean.


Your refresher begins with check-in at 8:30 a.m., followed by a review of scuba equipment and important safety concepts. You’ll then enter the pool with your instructor to practice key scuba skills and regain comfort underwater. The pool session typically finishes around 10:30–11:00 a.m.

After a short break, check-in for the afternoon dive boat is at 12:30 p.m., where you’ll head out to the beautiful coral reefs of the Florida Keys to complete two guided dives.


A refresher is required if it has been more than 2 years since your last dive.


Refresher Total: $225 Includes:

A pool-only refresher option is also available for $150.

2–3 Day Course


Ready to take your scuba diving to the next level? The Advanced Open Water course with Key Dives helps certified divers build confidence, improve skills, and explore new types of diving in the Florida Keys.

This course is designed to gain experience while diving with your instructor. You’ll complete five adventure dives on the reefs of the Florida Keys while learning new techniques and expanding your underwater skills.

Two dives are required: Deep Diving and Underwater Navigation. You’ll then choose three additional adventure dives based on conditions and your interests. Popular options may include Peak Performance Buoyancy, Fish Identification, Wreck Diving, Night Diving, Drift Diving, and more.

Ocean Advocates: The Conservation Shop of the Keys


At Key Dives we are committed to conservation, and we strive to showcase these values in every aspect of our work. We host monthly reef cleanup dives, and bi-monthly coral outplanting dives with I.CARE. We also host various community events to promote a better future for our coral reefs. We provide opportunities for locals and visitors alike to participate in all of our conservation work when they dive with us. The Giant Stride | 42’ Newton

Capacity: 25 divers or 36 snorkelers (max 18 divers on regular trips; up to 24 divers or 37 snorkelers on private charters)

Description: Spacious and comfortable, The Giant Stride is perfect for larger groups exploring the Florida Keys’ reefs and wrecks. Our regular trips limit divers to 18 to ensure a relaxed experience, while private charters allow larger groups up to 24 divers.
